The National Youth Justice Conference will take place on June 16 and 17, 2021, as an online event. The theme will be ‘Children’s rights in justice: UNCRC and beyond’.
Confirmed speakers include Juliet Harris (Together, Scotland); Dr Anthony Charles (Swansea University and Observatory on the Human Rights of Children); Iain Smith (Scottish Lawyer of the Year 2020); Jennifer Davidson (Institute for Inspiring Children’s Futures); and Gillian Mawdsley (Criminal Defence Solicitor). Bruce Adamson, Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland, will chair.
There will also be workshops, performances by Saughton Sonnets (Hidden Voices Project) and Staf’s Project Return community choir and young people and practitioners will share their lived experience of human rights and the justice system.
