CYCJ were pleased to host a visit from the Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Mr Neil Gray on 1 October, 2026. This was a great opportunity to share CYCJ’s ambitions for ensuring Scotland’s approach to children and young people in conflict with the law is child centred, and detail the many areas of progress made so far across CYCJ’s workstreams. We were glad that the Principal of Strathclyde University, Professor Stephen McArthur joined us for this meeting.
Professor Fiona Dyer said, “We were delighted to welcome the Cabinet Secretary to discuss how we can work together to ensure that Scotland’s responses to children and young people in conflict with the law are child-centred. This was an excellent opportunity to share our current activities, but also our ambitions for the future in the different topics and themes that our work is touching on. We are looking forward to working together as we progress towards our shared vision of ending the over-criminalisation of children.”
CYCJ wishes to thank everyone who contributed to this meeting.
