This is a free one-day course for those who work with young people involved with harmful sexual behaviour on a regular basis. The event will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016, in the Lord Hope Building, University of Strathclyde, 10am for a 10.30 start until 3.30pm.
It will look at how an understanding of the literature on subtypes of children and young people who display harmful sexual behaviour can inform our risk assessments and management as well as helping us tailor individual interventions. The training is aimed at intermediate level and will require participants to apply learning to current/recent casework.
Benefits include:
- Being able to identify key evidence based typologies in relation to adolescents who display harmful sexual behaviour;
- Being able to identify key evidence based typologies in relation to children under the age of 12 who display problematic sexual behaviour;
- Understanding strengths and weaknesses of typology based models; and
- Applying typology models to cases you are involved with to assist with risk assessment and to inform intervention work.
The day will be facilitated by Stuart Allardyce, CSM at Barnardo’s Skylight / Lighthouse and chair of NOTA Scotland.
