CYCJ and Action for Children Launch the Criminal Exploitation of Children (CEC) Framework for Practice

Action for Children and CYCJ have launched a new national framework to help professionals recognise and respond to criminal exploitation of children (CEC) as a form of child abuse that must be responded to as a child protection issue.

If you work with children and young people this framework will help you identify criminal exploitation, understand context, and intervene in ways that uphold rights and reduce harm.

The framework consists of a:

  • Screening tool
  • Self assessment tool
  • Case examples

It is supported by training, including a self-directed e-learning module, alongside guidance to help local areas embed the framework into their strategic responses and protocols. More resources are being developed to support direct practice, family engagement, and multi-agency collaboration.

Sign up to our upcoming webinar on 27 August which will explain more about how to use the Framework and give details about the eLearning module here.

The framework and tools are available at our Resources section here
