Info Sheet 40: Understanding ambiguous loss in young people involved in offending

This Information Sheet, written by CYCJ’s Research Fellow Nina Vaswani,  outlines the range of different losses that young people in custody may experience throughout a difficult and troubled childhood, including loss of a future; loss of relationships; loss of status; and loss of stability, and  highlights how this ambiguity can complicate the response to loss and affect young people’s rehabilitation and reintegration.

It is possible to offer more information on this topic as a three hour roadshow for relevant practitioners in Scotland.  Please contact the Centre for Youth and Criminal Justice for more information.
