Orielle is CYCJ’s Participation Lead, leading the participation workstream and supporting the development of meaningful opportunities for children and young people to influence policy, practice, research and systems change. She works alongside children and young people with experience of care and justice systems, as well as partners across Scotland, to embed rights-based, trauma-informed approaches and ensure participation is at the heart of decision-making.
Orielle has over 20 years experience across youth work, youth justice, safeguarding, children’s rights and community safety. Prior to joining CYCJ, she was a Senior Development Officer at YouthLink Scotland, where she led national work on No Knives, Better Lives and Health and Wellbeing in Youth Work. Her career has also included roles in local government and a secondment to the Scottish Government’s Community Safety Unit, contributing to national policy, guidance and strategic development. A former Children’s Panel Member and trained Restorative Justice Practitioner, Orielle brings experience of working with children, young people, families and professionals across Scotland. She also serves on charity boards supporting governance, leadership and organisational development.
Orielle is passionate about creating meaningful participation pathways that enable children and young people to shape the decisions that affect their lives. She is committed to strengthening partnerships, influencing systems change and supporting a Scotland where children and young people are safe, heard, respected and able to realise their rights.
