Maria Galli is an esteemed, international lawyer and independent legal consultant with over 35 years of experience across Scotland and Australia. Specialising in complex public and private law proceedings, she is a committed advocate dedicated to advancing child-friendly, rights-respecting justice and international human rights for children, young people and families.
Her extensive litigation background is reinforced by past public roles as a Children’s Reporter, Safeguarder, Child Protection Lead, Child Welfare Reporter, and In-house Counsel and gaining accreditation as a specialist in Child Law, certification by the Law Society as a Lawyer for Children and as a Trauma-Informed Lawyer.
Currently serving as Convener of the Law Society of Scotland’s Child & Family Law Sub-Committee, Maria engages collaboratively across sectors, combining her legal practice with extensive pro bono charity governance and executive leadership roles. Dedicated to tackling systemic issues and securing the practical implementation of rights across all areas of children and young people’s lives, she fiercely champions for those who are marginalised, facing adversity including those who are care experienced, who are in conflict with the law, or who are deprived of their liberty in childhood.
