Alistair Hogg

Alistair is Head of Practice and Policy at SCRA, a post he moved to in June 2019.  He has a legal background, studying law at Edinburgh University and then becoming a solicitor in private practice.  He became interested in court work in particular and specialised for about 8 years in criminal defence work.  He decided on a change of direction in 2000 and became a Children’s Reporter.  He has been with SCRA ever since, becoming an Authority Reporter in 2007, then a Locality Reporter Manager, and took up a Senior Operational Manager post in 2012.  Throughout his time in SCRA, and before, Alistair has always had a keen interest in youth justice.  He has been involved in lots of internal SCRA work in this area, and has engaged with partners in many different parts of the country on strategic youth justice work.  Alistair is also a member of the Youth Justice Improvement Board.
