Joanne joined the team as Practice Development Advisor in August 2024 and is currently seconded from the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration where she has 17 years experience as a Senior Practitioner Children’s Reporter and Children’s Reporter. In that role, she was involved in deciding which children required statutory measures of supervision and who were referred to the reporter for a variety of concerns, including serious care and protection, and anti-social behaviour concerns. She also conducted many children’s hearings and complex court proceedings during her time at SCRA.
Before joining the Reporter’s Administration she held a variety of roles including Assistant Psychologist within the prison service, Programme Facilitator on Alcohol, Crime and Education Programmes, and a Restorative Justice Intervention Worker for children in conflict with the law.
Joanne recently completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Children and Young People in Conflict with the Law at CYCJ, and thoroughly recommends this course to anyone seeking to enhance their understanding and ability in this area.
With a lead on Learning and Development here at CYCJ, Joanne’s role focuses on developing CYCJ’s strategy for learning and development of our key stakeholders including supporting practitioners with key legislative and policy developments in youth justice practice, whilst contributing to the wider work of the centre’s core training objectives.
Joanne will also be involved in the Post Graduate Certificate for Children and Young People in Conflict with the Law at the centre.
