Kathryn Lindsay

Kathryn has worked in social work and social care roles for 25 years with a strong focus on justice and children’s services. She is currently the Director of Children, Families and Justice and the statutory Chief Social Work Officer at Angus Council. In her local role, Kathryn is also a member of the Angus Integration Joint Board and Audit Committee supporting and scrutinising the delivery of integrated adult care services. Kathryn has led on the development and delivery of a range of social work services and is a champion for working with supported people to introduce trauma informed models of support.

In a voluntary capacity, Kathryn has been involved at Board level with Social Work Scotland, the professional leadership organisation for social work and social care in Scotland, since 2018 and is currently the past Convener. In that role, Kathryn led the profession nationally during the Covid19 pandemic, chaired the national meeting of Chief Social Work Officers and represented the profession on the Ministerial Taskforce for Victims. Kathryn was previously a professional adviser to Lloyds TSB PDI in their grant making work to support children impacted by parental substance misuse.

A social worker committed to social justice and upholding rights, Kathryn is passionate about supporting Scotland work to develop a rights respecting approach to work with young people in conflict with the law.
