Since qualifying as a social worker in 2012 I have worked in a local authority youth justice team based within Children and Families. During this time I supported the development of the Diversion from Prosecution and Early and Effective Intervention processes and supported other practitioners with the implementation of the Whole System Approach. Prior to this I gained experience in the youth justice field within SACRO, predominantly as a restorative justice practitioner.

Whilst working for CYCJ previously I was responsible for a wide area of work including the development of participation for those with lived experience. Whilst doing so, I completed my masters in social work looking at the challenges and barriers experienced in participation for young people involved in offending behaviour.

In my current role as practice development advisor I am the lead for the Improving Life Chances group with particular interest in the area of Speech, Language and Communication Needs. I am passionate about supporting all children and young people to fulfil their potential and reach their goals, and I strive to contribute to this by supporting and developing the youth justice workforce.
