CYCJ Webinar: Launching the Criminal Exploitation of Children (CEC) Framework for Practice

In this webinar, Donna McEwan CYCJ Practice Development Advisor and Sharon Mciver Action for Children Director Child Criminal Exploitation are joined by Holly Bird, CYCJ Research Associate, Joanne Lee CYCJ Practice Development Advisor and Marianiki Vlachou CYCJ Research Associate to launch the Criminal Exploitation of Children framework for Practice. Chaired by Fiona Steel, Action for Children’s Director for Scotland, this webinar explored the background of the framework, how it can be used and the accompanying E-Learning module available to underpin the framework.

Speaker Bios: 

Donna McEwan is a Practice Development Advisor at CYCJ with over 17 years’ experience in social work, specialising in justice, and supporting children in conflict with the law. She has led national work on developing rights-based, trauma-informed responses to serious harm, risk, and criminal exploitation. Donna played a key role in co-developing Scotland’s Criminal Exploitation of Children (CEC) Framework for Practice. She is passionate about reframing criminal exploitation as a child protection issue and ensuring children are supported, not criminalised. 

Sharon Maciver is the UK Director of Criminal Exploitation at Action for Children. She has specialised in the area of criminal exploitation for the last five years supporting Action for Children’s Criminal Exploitation Intervention services across Scotland, England and Wales, as well as working to influence policy and systems change for criminally exploited children.
